Family Photo Shoot Before Hurricane Sandy in Buckeystown, Maryland Photographer

We changed the date of our photo shoot due to Hurricane Sandy's impending wrath.  This is the second time I've done a photo shoot with a storm/hurricane looking over my shoulder.  The last one was Irene and it had already started raining when I was in the process of the session.

Here is an after photo taken on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 by Jean Goodacre which I found on The Weather Channel site.  Our photo shoot was Saturday evening.  What a few days and a little rain can do.

I had a great time with this family of five.  The three children are active so I had them bring the soccer ball along.  Their son wanted me to photograph him doing every soccer move known to man.  The kids are outgoing and natural models.   Here is a sample of some of the images I created for them.

Roaring Lion 5K Run, Frederick Maryland Photographer

I was asked to volunteer my time to photograph the CMES Roaring Lion 5K Run on October 13, 2012.  I had never participated in anything like this so I was surprised by how much preparation it took on the part of the organizers.  It was a successful event with many people running, walking or pushing strollers in the 5K Run with a follow up of the Children's Fun Run Mile.  Below is sample of the morning and the rest of the photos can be viewed here.

I am currently booking Fall Portrait Sessions.

The Waterford Fair 2012, Frederick Maryland Photographger

Each year I participate in The Waterford Fair's Juried Photo Exhibit.  It gives me something to work towards and then an excuse to visit the fair.  Here are some images from my visit on a very quiet, cloudy, drizzly day with my family and our friends.  Barely anyone was there, so we nearly had the town to ourselves.  As with all outings that are done annually, we are beginning to see this fair as a tradition.
Some homes in town. The top right named Sunnyside is for sale, The Second Street School is the bottom left.

More homes and a map from Eugene Sheele's shop.
Blacksmith from Butterbridge Forge.  We bought the hook he was creating.

This reminds me of New Orleans
Inside the Marshall Claggett House an 18th Century log cabin.  The Claggetts, who were black, raised 9 children in this one-room, one-story home.

I just loved the colors and the dog poking out as the people talked.

The boys waiting to go inside the log house.  We walked to the back entrance and one sat down making himself at home….the others did the same.

At the Creek, Frederick Maryland Photographer

This past weekend I was able to share several of these images at Art at the Point.  I received a lot of wonderful feedback and enjoyed sharing the work.  My husband thinks it is my strongest work yet.  I have entered several of these images into two juried exhibits and hope to win a ribbon at The Waterford Fair this weekend and placement in the upcoming Delaplaine Juried Photo Exhibit.

While creating these images my friend was inspired by the thought of "boudoir photography" without all the fussiness of lingerie, makeup and high heels. She simply wanted me to capture her as herself and be able to present it as a gift to her husband and as a memory of this chapter in her life.  Knowing that she practices yoga on a regular basis I asked her to demonstrate some postures.  This is the outcome of an afternoon at the creek with our boys (two each) playing somewhere behind me.  Who would have known that this woman once gave birth to twins!

Below is an example of one of the gifts her husband received.  The mini accordion album is fun to spread out on a desk or can slide easily into a purse or luggage.
An example of a small metal accordion album perfect for a desk or nightstand.  The metal represents their ten year anniversary.

On side can hold four images.
The other side can hold up to six images or in this case a spread of three.
